Zoo Science: Helping Endangered Species
Date: April 26, 2015
Time: 1:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The Buffalo Zoo is more than a fun place to observe animals; it is also a living laboratory where real science happens! This exciting workshop is for the adult learner who is interested in discovering behind-the-scenes information about zoo research and conservation projects that help endangered species. We will meet zookeepers who will share their experience, describe the scientific aspects of their jobs, and provide us with special opportunities for up-close observations of endangered species here at the Zoo!

Animal Artists
Date: August 29, 2015
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The Buffalo Zoo is home to some amazing artists, who use their paws, trunks, or scaly skin to make beautiful works of art! This workshop is a special opportunity to learn more about our animal artists. You will discover how zookeepers use training techniques to develop an animal’s painting style, observe how zookeepers make paintings with animals from our Education Department, and be challenged to a zoo animal pawprint matching game. You will even get a mini “painting” to take home!

Zoo Vet Tech
Date: November 14, 2015
Time:  10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.

Get ready to sharpen your observation skills! We will be taking an up-close and personal look at how the Zoo cares for over 150 different species of animals. Hands-on activities will help us investigate techniques that help our veterinary staff diagnose and treat Zoo animals. We will have an opportunity to observe radiographs, use microscopes, and much more!

Pre-paid registration is required, and all participants are required to pay the workshop fee. For more information call us at (716) 995-6128
